Is there a way to improve these? I have the impression that the serifs could need some improving depending on the size/rotation one uses them. Maybe I should just opt for another type. --Enhancing999 (talk) 15:00, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
@Enhancing999: I assume you are noticing that the smaller it is, the harder it is to read — especially for serif fonts. While there are niche things such as "variable fonts" for webpages to be easier to read at a smaller font size, these do not apply to any mediawiki sites, as all SVGs are pre-rendered into PNGs before serving to the end reader. I personally favor north pointers like the one I drew in Washington Purple Line.svg — easier to read at a smaller size with a sans-serif font, and with arrows and N separated from each other. Flag of Glasgow[edit]

Article(s): Glasgow, Coat of arms of Glasgow, List of Scottish flags and List of United Kingdom flags.

Request
Will someone please create an SVG file of the flag of the city of Glasgow, as seen here. It's a banner of the city's coat of arms, provided above. Thanks. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 01:05, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It might also be worth changing these new arms themselves; the saint is supposed to be in a quite different posture and is not dressed properly, the bell is the wrong shape, the robin looks more like a cross between a ruff and red grouse, and the salmon are much more grey than is "proper". I don't see the point in a flag until the shield itself is completed. The image really isn't suitable for public consumption yet. GPinkerton (talk) 17:58, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@GPinkerton: I do see where you're coming from here. Would you perhaps be willing to try and make any of those changes yourself? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 16:55, 11 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I could alter the fishes' colours but the bell, bird, and bishop are beyond me. It might be worth asking BopperDopp, who made the image not too long ago. GPinkerton (talk) 16:32, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request for vectorization - the Coat of Arms of Moravia[edit]

The moravian eagle, oldest preserved color representation of the coat of arms of the Moravian margrave

Article(s): Moravia, Coat of arms of Moravia.

Request
I'm looking for a person willing to vectorize an image file with the Moravian coat of arms, which is used by many sites: Znak Moravy.jpg. The bitmap format is an obstacle to its wider use on the grounds that the SVG format is better (technically). The existing Moravia.svg file used by other articles as SVG is not suitable from the aesthetic point of view (the shape of the Moravian eagle's tail is not adapted to the shield). It is possible that more people would be willing and able to do it, but in the end at least one willing person could answer the call and do the vectorization.--Pavel Fric (talk) 18:18, 1 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
@Pavel Fric: do you have an "official" link to the correct version? Looking at this web page, it appears that the existing SVG is more correct. -- (talk) 13:30, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@: See National symbols of the Czech Republic. 1) The linked picture above represents the combination of the Moravian eagle as depicted in the file (picture) with the state (Czech republic) coat of arms. It is copied from it (cut and pasted into an inappropriate shield shape without being adapted). 2) This is based on the annex to the Law on State Symbols, where the coat of arms is described as "Quarterly, first and fourth gules a lion rampant double-queued argent crowned, armed and langued or (for Bohemia), second quarter azure an eagle displayed chequy gules and argent crowned, armed and langued or (for Moravia), third quarter or, an eagle displayed sable crowned of the first, armed and langued gules, on its breast a crescent trefoiled and a crosslet argent (for Silesia)." It is noticeable that in the appendix (picture) to the law the shape of the tail is adapted to the shape of the 2. field (approximately rectangle) in the shield (French shield), whereas in the picture on the linked page the tail of the eagle is not adapted to the shape of the shield (gothic shield). In the English translation, the "red" colour of the dice is listed before the silver, but in the original of the law (Czech language) the silver comes first in the description, followed by the red: the check (chessboard) is silver-red, in this order. Never mind that the appendix to the law shows the check(ering) red-silver. Finally, this can also be seen in other depictions of the Moravian eagle's form or its descriptions (however, the oldest colour depiction from the 13th century is silver-red). But the point is to have depictions that match the text of the law, because images further shape people's ideas of what something should look like.--Pavel Fric (talk) 12:27, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ukrainian general staff brigade insignia[edit]

Article(s): 101st Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff

Request
Please make a new SVG file for the insignia of the Ukrainian 101st Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff based on the design of the sleeve insignia and the modern cap badge.
The present file leaves much to be desired and is not representative of what the insignia actually looks like, in contrast to most of our comparable files for other brigades. Images of the present-day sleeve insignia in use can be seen here in full colour and low-visibility variants. (Close-up of the patch here; of the real cap-badge here.) A simplified greyscale design appears on their Facebook here. The existing coat of arms image also lacks the brickwork background. GPinkerton (talk) 18:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A North Korean documentary film (at 30:18) showed the design for the flag of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army. 1) rather than I want..., please be kind using I would like... for instance.
2) I can't access your image! Do you have an another link (the provided link is toward mail.google)?
3) without this image, is your requested work related, in the given file in the gallery, to suppress bitmap image embedded in a svg shell?
Have you seen the other versions?
Please note that these two files, Space station size comparison mk.svg (mk) and Space station size comparison zh-hans.svg (zh), are true svg.
Yours, En rouge (talk) 18:06, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Chinakpradhan:
in reality, Space station size comparison.svg is a true svg, considering the visible part.
But this file (on 2022-07-26 for instance) embeds necessary bitmaps, to be able to build the svg drawing. En rouge (talk) 18:52, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

here is the image uploaded by me on twitter (it's a .tiff version). The image I am asking is an updation of File:Space station size comparison.svg. This current version and all other files you listed are outdated versions. I tried to upload the updation myself but the problem is that image is not converted correctly. So I want it converted and uploaded by someone more better than me. @En rouge Besides if you want the original file only other option is, to email you the file.Chinakpradhan (talk) 15:56, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Chinakpradhan: without any precise description of your request, I made a visual comparison between File:Space station size comparison.svg and your proposed file on twitter. (please note that for a file uploaded to twitter, regardless of the file format, the downloadable image is .png or .jpg... – so it doesn't matter if your initial upload was .tiff or other). For the detected differences, I need dates! Date of the initial space stations dimensions, in the .svg file on Commons; date of the the space stations layout/dimensions in your proposed picture on twitter.
Yours, En rouge (talk) 21:13, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@En rouge, if you need the dates when they were actually addedthen, see that in between 29 April 2021 configuration (uploaded on 4 May 2021) and 3 november 2022 (my version not uploaded as yet) only one module wentian was added on 25 July 2022, but if look into history
ISS:-2 irosas were added on 20 june 2021, nauka (solar panels only) with european robotic arm (not in view) on 29 july 2021, prichal (not in view) on 26 november 2021.
Tiangong (CSS):- new updates and whole design was rotten piece.
see the discussion at User_talk:Sbb1413#Updation. this discussion is increasing the best solution is to provide me a suitable svg application that fully converts png to svg as 4 more final irosas will be added within today and february-march 2022. Graphist opinion(s)
  1. 1 Ok
  2. 2 Red and green are OK, but the lion would get from me #e1ed03, it would be best to recreate the original contours, but if it is impossible, this drawing can be left, only with the added tongue and tail closer to the body. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 22:31, 11 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk:
For #2 at that time the company was anglo-iranian. So, I take elements and colors from Flag of England.svg and Safavid Flag.svg. Orange color is the one for lion on flag for Safavid and Pahlavi dynasties (green and orange colors was taken from the Safavid flag, the lion design was also adapted from this same flag). If you look at the logo Bp logo1961.png, given for (1968-1984), the color is orange... Moreover, your proposed color, #e1ed03, is a

greenish yellow
not really appropriate. To be continued...
#4: This flag seems not to exist. The only pictures I found are only the given logo (i.e. this logo on a white background).
#5: I don't know if this flag exists or not. I've only found this logo on a same green background (often a square design), but no real flag.
If not existing, deletion will be requested for these two last flags. Please, provide a source.
En rouge (talk) 19:19, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@En rouge: I chose this non-standard color because it is present in all images (I think it's because the green underneath shows through) also the dressing of the lion seems to be cohesive [2] [3], This [4] is a link to the official PDF describing the history of the flag, it was one of my sources when I wrote the note, but I haven't opened it in a long time and since Sunday my internet is slower and the PDF won't load. There is #2 but clearly longer than in the photo of the physical flag and I think it's a graphic mistake. If you see any other differences in the PDF compared to what I've provided before, then suggest PDF, it's possible that I rushed the approvals #1. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 21:51, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Swiãtopôłk: I'll talk here about yellow color, in #2 only (but other important info still to go, about #xx later...)
You wrote that your non-standard color is present in all images, but you only link to one image (image zoomed from another, the latter full flag image more appropriate as much in context):
From you link [5] (and [6] which is part of it), you can see that zoomed lion is not the same color as in the entire flag picture. In the full image, the lion is more orang-ish (and even in the zoomed image the green is out of reality, regarding full scope image).
Here are some links to flags I found:
  • [7] first flag on top: almost yellow/orang-ish lion, but others mostly orange or brown
  • [8] (brown)
  • [9] (brown)
  • and, on Commons, Flag of Persia (1964, with fringe).jpg, Qajar Naval Ensign.svg, War Flag of Fath Ali Shah.svg,
And ere are two flags, but fake flying flags I suppose, supposedly based on flags from Commons:
I still maintain, as an argument, that in Bp logo1961.png, color yellow in fact is... orange
(and in your sample pdf file, red seems to be inappropriate for #1; this can induce suspicion about color fidelity).
Yours, En rouge (talk) 02:32, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
PS: why don't you provide all the material you have, for the graphists to have more information?
From one video I found in BP web site, for #2 I'll modify orange to a yellow one. To be continued.

For clarity, it could be helpful to have a separate icon "RACK" for the later, similar to the above, but without the cable.
