English: "Fustat" carpet. Wool; Knotted Pile (symmetrical Knot). 88.9 x 165.1 cm (35 x 65 in.). A small carpet with long kilim ends. The field is occupied by what appears to be the figure of a lion in profile, its head in the upper left severely truncated or foreshortened by the the inner border, the wider of two that surround the field. 7-9th century, Egypt. Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco 1986.4
