This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reports@wikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergency@wikimedia.org.

Report users for clear cases of vandalism. Block requests for any other reason should be reported to the blocks and protections noticeboard.


Report disputes with users that require administrator assistance. Further steps are listed at resolve disputes.


Reports that do not suit the vandalism noticeboard may be reported here. Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.


Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

Albedo blocking

I've blocking without waring, and a term is 1 year. I seem, that admin provided blocking did not answered me and it's a very coarse punishment. Please unblck or consider more reasonable blocking Albedo (talk) 15:40, 16 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

More info at Special:Log/block?page=User:Albedo; other than this edit summary, I couldn’t find any conclusive discussion, consensus, nor decision. @Ahonc: Where is it?
For the record, I agree that a one-year block is extremely harsh and serves no useful purpose — and I say this as someone who had many (many!) reasons to deplore Albedo’s categorization habits. Indef block for vandals and trolls, 24h blocks to cool off hotheads, and anything in between is more punitive than preventive. If Albedo cannot really be trusted with the rename/more ability, then remove it and let Albedo do the rest of his work unperturbed.

I was informed by user:Kharkivian that Albedo makes unconsensus renamings. After checking his contributions I confirm that. He already has warnings on this userpage [1], but he ignored it. Examples of wrong namings: [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11] and hundreds (many!) more (and I should spend a lot of time to revert to correct names).     I have already renamed 120 categories, and it is not all. U should spend many days to fix all Albedo's renaming. And as we see, Albedo does not agree with his viloations, he worries only about the length of blocking, and waiting to continue them.     This is absurd. I have spent much more time than you did (because I don’t have access to admin tools) undoing much worse categorization mistakes created by Albedo (actual errors, not minor quibbles about cyrillic romanization that could go either way), and even so I don’t think that’s worth a week’s block, let alone one year. We’ve had in recent past gross abuses given a slap on the wrist, if at all, and yet here we have a very heavy sanction imposed on a user who is well meaning (albeit clumsy) and polite (no, that was not a personal attack, Jeff, as you know: you, and I, have been insulted by other users here, and never a sanction like this was even on the table). -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 07:12, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

They are apparently dedicated to mass-uploading files from Flickr and, inevitably, they commit some mistakes while doing so, uploading free licensed files which are derivative works of ...some other works not made by the Flickr account owner. Is the percentage of wrong-licensed files at source really unacceptable? They could do better categorization, though. Strakhov (talk) 12:34, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Second chance for Walden69

Walden69 has got an indefinite block since 2008. It's still an active editor in Catalan Wikipedia (around 430k contributions). It was blocked in Commons for "Uploading files without source/licensing after warnings". I understand your reasons, but I think that his user experience has improved.
